E arlier this week, several of us artistes from Fly Entertainment participated in this new Channel 5 telematch show calledThe Showdown. The premise is simply two teams of four members competing in various games to determine which team will take home the prize money of $4000 SGD (approximately $3000 USD). Our team consisted of Irene Ang (formerly "Mrs. Rosie Phua and founder of Fly), Jimmy T (AnD actor), Elisabeth Tan (Up and coming host on Channel 5), and me. We were competing against the Thai contingency of Utt (from MTV VJ fame), Douglas (Up and coming talent), Ploy (Thai actress), and Taya Rogers (The new MTV VJ).
Drawing inspiration from the wacky Japanese variety game shows, The Showdown pits two teams in various matches throughout one day of filming. On our day, we all had a lot of fun playing such creative games like Human Bowling, What the Fish?!, and Human Foosball. Although it was hot and stuffy during the filming, we all had a great time. Here are some of the shots from the day's happenings...
...Jimmy T is getting psyched up to be a human bowling pin, and Irene doesn't seem to be enjoying being "pinned" in the get-up too much.
After each game, the host of the show Dominic Lau interviews us about what went down between the two teams...
...and just when all of us didn't think the games were as wacky or weird as the Japanese originals, we were all stuffed into chicken costumes for a relay race.
All in all, it was a great time for everyone involved. It's not often that we have programs where we can compete so you know we went out there to make the most of it. If you happen to be in Singapore, look out for this new show The Showdown in your local listings.
Alright, I'll be heading off to the finale for The Contender Asia at the Singapore Indoor Stadium so look out for those happenings soon!
