Another one off the DVD pile! Jiang Hu (江湖) is a 2004 HK gangster movie featuring Andy Lau, Jacky Cheung, Edison Chen and Shawn Yue, directed by Wong Ching-Po.
The movie has two storylines, one about a pair of young punks who are trying to prove themselves in the gangster world and another about two gang bosses who are fighting for power against eachother and unruly underbosses.

I really enjoyed Royston Tan's '881' when I saw it on DVD last year. When I heard he was doing another movie with cast members Mindee Ong, Yi Qiwu and Liu Lingling named '12 Lotus' 《十二莲花》 I was totally looking forward to seeing it!
'881' was a HUGE hit in the Singapore market, but I had heard that ...Read more

Last Tuesday was quite busy. after Filmart, I went to the office for about 40 minutes then grabbed a bus for the Kowloon side to go see The Hollywood Reporter (THR)'s special HKIFF event at the W. Hotel. In addition to giving a special prize at the Asian Film Awards the night before, THR Publisher Eric Mika was also holding an event marking THR's 'Next Gen' of Asia. Here's an article explaining a bit more about the awards they were handing out:

Filmart is a place where film buyers and distributors of existing or up coming films can go to meet eachother and make deals and also where projects for up coming films can find financing, etc. So its actually a cool way to see what's out and whats in the pipeline.
And its a testament to the rate at which this site is growing to say you couldn't walk more than 5 m...Read more
