A few notes...
1:I was just at the Wanchmost of the night. Caught this band Don't Panic--THEY WERE AMAZING. Buncha older dudes rocking out--Lead singer kinda resembles Steven Tyler. Drummer is bad ass. Bassist looks like a rock version of John C. Riley. They billed themselves as a classic rock cover band, and it was mostly accurate--in between the Stones, the Bowies, the Dylans, the Pink Floyds, they snuck in songs by The Killers and Nickleback. I'm kinda disgusted at that....cause Nicklebac...Read more
1: Eels frontman E
Real name’s Mark Oliver Everett, but everyone knows him as E. As the frontman of the rock group Eels, he has unleashed a series of albums over the years, and according to Mr Cassidy, all of them are great. Unfortunately, I had never heard of him until recently when his latest album, Hombre Lobo, arrived at the Beats office. The album blew me awa...Read more
Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5q6AblNi6sg I was completely underwhelmed at their gig a few months back.
I think their new stuff sucks.
I think I like Definitely Maybe the movie (with Ryan "THE LUCKIEST MAN ALIVE" Reynolds) better than Definitely Maybe the album (every Brit reading this just mentally cursed me out at this exact moment)
But I am glad to have met--and got on with--Noel Gallagher, the ...Read more

The city of Los Angeles is currently half a billion dollars in debt and people are getting laid off left and right. I have several friends, all college grads, who have been laid off and have been unemployed for months. State employees are taking paycuts and I bet even AH-NOLD is cutting back on his cigars.
Yet, to celebrate the Laker's championship victory, 2 million dollars was spent on ...Read more
Ever get the feeling that Hong Kong isn't so much a home, but like a stopover?
For example: Last night I was at Bulldog's quiznight with a few coworkers and interns. The beats intern is from USC and he's here on a 12 week journalism program. Other people from the same program--all interning at different media outlets--joined as well.
Most of us were meeting each other for the first time, and everyone got along. Other cats showed up, and it was one big outing over beers and burgers.

1: I was told that I made it on the front page of AnD's artist updates with my "the interns" entry. I think there's been a misunderstanding--we're not a real band. We just got together and jammed, and since everyone there was at one point or another an intern (I think I am too), I jokingly named us “The Interns”. Now the other two cats in the pictures—they can play music (they’re Brits, of course they can. Britsh people are the kings of rock and roll) and one was actually in a ba...Read more
First jam session of "The Interns"
At our rate, we'll be ready to perform in 2018. Stay tuned.
First things first, I'm quite sick of loggin onto AnD's front page and seeing this cat, who shall remain unnamed, facedropping like a motherfucker. What's a facedrop? It's like namedropping (mentioning important people's names to show off) but using pictures to show how many famous people you know (yeah I made up the word "facedrop"). We've had two actors die recently and every time I log in it's the dude facedropping with pictures of the deceased. His profile pic is a facedropping pic of him next to a star (I...Read more
There's a story in today's SCMP about the controversy behind the poster of the film Coco Before Chanel. Get this--because Audrey Tautou is holding a cig, the poster is deemed inappropriate. The poor PRs at Lark films had to make a statement and be all like Will-Smith-when-Uncle-Phil-...Read more
