Last April, I wrote about how the woman in the adjoining flat likes totalk on the phone. I also wrote about how none of the rest of the people around her like listening to her.
At the time, my windows were open and it was kind of irritating if only because she literally talks all day and all night. At least no one has started shouting at her again, calling her bad names and otherwise entertaining me.

It was a lot of fun, and featured some notable performances, but more on that later. tells the story of a veteran cop (Simon Yam) trying to figure out whois kidnapping local gang bosses and demanding ransom. More importantly, he wants to know why these people are being ransomed, since none of them are very wealthy (at least by loca...Read more
Yesterday I was driving with my friend Rick in Tsim Sha Tsui. We pulled into a parking garage and I saw this rather... meretricious vehicle:Hong Kong being the metrosexual gender blender it is, this vehicle is very possibly owned and driven by a man. If you are reading this, I am grateful. I have spent the last 7-10 days sick to varying degrees because of this filthy pollution, trapped in my flat, alone.
It started as a head cold, migrated to my chest, then went back to my head. Today at last it essentially gone; I am still coughing, but it's what the doctors call a productivecough.
I get sick at least once a year from the pollution, and I have allergies and asthma every day because of it. But I love living in this madhouse, so I stay.

Ideally, I was supposed to have been in Central tonight, working with Jun Kung/Eugene and the Pows for their New Year's gig at Grappa's. After the gig, I am sure we'd have managed a late run through the Alivenotdead New Year Party.
Well, that ain't the way it happened. I got sick this week with what is probably a sinus infection. My head feels like I have a 6 lb. blob of putty sitting right behind my eyes and I feel generally like sh*t. I've been house-bound for three days, and I decided tonigh...Read more

Disclaimer - This metaphor primarily involves invasion of the heart (and other organs, admittedly) and is therefore non-gendered, and ought not be interpreted as a one-dimensional and reprehensibly phallo-centric construct. I say this in the hopes of dissuading anyone from hitting the big red button that would put th...Read more
I am sorry I am late with this review, but better late than never.I admit, I wanted this film to be good. It's been a tough year, let's face it.So I am glad to be able to say: Bodyguards and Assassins/十月圍城kicks more ass than a karate tournament for donkeys refereed by fat men.I was thoroughly, deeply, and magnificently entertained for the film's entire running time, a...Read more
Christmas is one of the biggest 'family' holidays for Westerners (and others). The best thing about Christmas (ideally) is being with family.Well, the best thing is actually to be withretired AV stars, but family is nice too.
Christmasbrings family members together to talk, exchange gifts, and preserve the family's secret gravy recipe through drinking excessively such that no one can remember it. ...Read more
