I took the Less Paul with me to Tokyo.
I built it as a travel guitar, so it was fun to take it along. But when I got home I noticed something.
The lacquer cracked. Not sure why, as the temp between Tokyo and Hong Kong isn't that pronounced, and I carried it on the plane both ways, and didn't open it up for a few hours when I got home.
It's not through the top layer, and I can say it's already vintage looking.Read more
Do you remember a while back I expressed my admiration for a certain promotional image?
From that entry:"I asked all the shops if I could buy one, but they all said no.
I'll just wait a few weeks." Guess what? I wrote that entry a few weeks ago.
And I was in Mongkok last week, looking for DVDs.
I found something much, much better.Read more
I wish I had 21 grams of K-jai to get twacked on before watching this interminable mess.
A panoply of irredeemably self-absorbed people wallow in self-pity, self-destruction and a willful refusal to consider any other human being on earth.
Not just the cast; that includes the director.
Maybe it's living in Hong Kong for four years, but I find American characters more and more solipsistic, and I spent a lot of screen time hoping that the entire cast would get run over, not just the father and two girls.

I know I haven't blogged lately. I apologize.
My trip to Tokyo was fun, but exhausting.
And I recently have come to despise my laptop's keyboard, so even though I had it with me, I avoided it. To answer some recent questions:
No, I didn't get to see Nana this time.
Which means that the tattoo doesn't say "Nana was here" in katakana.
Considering how painful it would have been, I am grateful.I'll pass on making the requisite length/size joke here.Proud of me? My wrists hav...Read more
I'm off to the airport for my third trip to Tokyo.
On the schedule:
Dinner with Mio and Taiga tonight.
Dinner with Nana's manager and his family tomorrow night.
A tattoo in Shibuya on Friday.
Shakalabbits at Zepp Tokyo on Saturday.
Looking at thousands of guitars today, tomorrow, Friday and early Saturday.
Trying hard not to laugh at the ganguro gals.

It's probably no secret by now that I like music that is loud, fast, energetic, hyperbolic (at least musically), and abrasive. I like bands with two guitars and no keyboards.
Bands who have t-shirts proclaiming themselves "Louder than God and Better than F@#$ing." (The Wildhearts)
I've tried for years to understand why I like it so much.
Maybe its because my father was a big fan of Neil Diamond, James Taylor, and the Moody Blues.
Yes, it did indeed suck.
Grunge annoyed me. It was t...Read more
Maybe I'm just brain-challenged, but I am having a very hard time finding out something that may very well be common knowledge to others, specifically Singaporeans.
Can I get an overnight flight to HKG from Singapore on a Sunday night? As always, thank you in advance.
With my hands...About a month ago, I blogged about a brothel sign in Mong Kok that I saw. Ching388left a comment that was a series of questions, and I think they bear answering. I am just sorry it took me so long to get to them, but as you see, I wanted to give t...Read more
