The same as braces, just on her hands...
Thinking about it ensures that it won't happen.
I try not to profane God, but Jesus F@#$ing Christ. All alliteration aside, it's a good thing her name's not Betty. Or Fatima. Or Suzie. I enjoyed watching Kate Tsui in Eye in the Sky.
I also enjoyed watching her fitness dance commercials.
I wish I had them on a loop.
So I was quite pleasantly surprised (and visibly excited) to see this new promot...Read more
A few weeks back, the Movie Night Gang ate in... whatever you call that neighborhood between Jordan and Elements.
We ate at this fine establishment. The food was really good, and it was not too crowded and we got to eat an extremely leisurely meal without being given the hairy eyeball.
In the interest of fairness and proving I am not a 'salty minded' man, I decided to fill out the same set of questions, but using a different theme. Hopefully, it is self-evident.
And I promise, I avoid sex completely.
Art reflecting life.
Dammit.
'Morning' is a highly relative term for musicians and/or those who work for them.
"I try to get up every day..." Jimi Hendrix on theDick Cavett Show.
The awful memories of 911 have somewhat softened with the years, but I think the biggest aid in my own personal healing has been the knowledge that after those horrible events, Osama Bin Laden was captured just as George Bush promised to do, and the world was made a better, safer place.
Oh, wait, Bin Laden wasn't captured.
There wereno WMD in Iraq.
I admit, I used an American tragedy for my own crass purposes.
Because 8 years later, after the squandering of tens of thousands of lives in Iraq, Afghanistan...Read more
I have been inexcusably remiss of late for not blogging. But it's the first week of the new term, I have a lot of other stuff going on, and I am still writing about other things.
So in the interim, I offer this hopefully amusing take on the currently circulating set of questions. While I could not, at risk of perjury, deny many of the statements and allegations contained herein, I wish to clarify this entry in at least two ways:
A big surprise in Hollywood today, as Chinese director Feng Xiagong reveals that the role ofGu Zidi (谷子地) in the director's soon-to-begin-filming sequelAssembly 2/集结号2 is to be played by African American actor Wesley Snipes, shown here in an early promotional photo for the film:"始終賭黑..."Anyone who hasn't gotten the joke by now please leave the planet before breeding.Read more
April 2008 - Cheap Trick plays at Tokyo's Budokan to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the album that made them superstars; it was recorded there.
Captain Sh*thead (me) didn't know about it and hence didn't go.
April 2009 - I find out that Mr. Big is doing a reunion tour of Japan and will play Budokan on June 20.
I failed to achieve attendance.
October 3, 2009 - Shakalabbits, who can be (very inadequately) as a Japanese No Doubt with better/louder guitars (and just better music) will...Read more
I saw this film back at the beginning of the Summer HKIFF. I put off the review because I was feeling ambivalent.
In some ways, I feel that a review of Vengeanceis rather superfluous; it's a Johnnie To movie. That idea speaks for itself.
But that idea also carries both positive and negative connotations.
Sometimes a Johnnie To movie is great because of the directo...Read more
The Movie Night Gang saw this Saturday Night.

Great theatre for a not-great movie. It wasn't playing at the Dynasty; we checked.I'm not generally a fan of EEG propaganda moviesstar vehicles, but the simple truth is that I had f@#$ all else on my dance card for the evening and I really do enjoy dinners with people who, like myself, wer...Read more
